Photography for Environmentalism

I was at college when I first discovered the work of Edward Burtynsky (http://www.edwardburtynsky.com).  Ever since then I’ve been fascinated by the way photography can provide a powerful voice in exposing the way we so carelessly treat our environment.

This is a photo my wife and I  took this afternoon.  Only 3-6 months ago this whole area was bush.  Now it’s flattened and well on it’s way to yet another housing estate. I really feel that seeing this image in black and white makes the effect more dramatic, re-enforcing the narrative.
